Introducing "Big Bandology" What better way to inspire elementary students to study music at the high school level than by exposing them to the big band sound? The Ladies provide an irresistible introduction to the instruments students can play in high school band class. By showcasing each instrument through musical selections from jazz, swing, and popular classics, this 11-piece* ensemble gives students an unforgettable taste of their musical possibilities.
Directed by trombonist Casey Thomas-Burns, the Leading Ladies Little Big Band first came together to perform a single show in 2019 and have stuck together ever since. In addition to performing, this dynamic and vibrant group of young women shares a mission of education and community outreach. |

“Casey Thomas-Burns and the Leading Ladies Little Big Band were a pleasure to work with. Our students and public audience were treated to a great performance that included interesting repertoire, stories, and outstanding musicianship. I am certain that the professional members of the Leading Ladies inspired all students while setting an amazing example for our girls.”

What impressed me about the Leading Ladies is their high calibre of musicianship and the energy they bring to the stage. Each member is a competent soloist and displays genuine creativity with their improvisation skills and ability to successfully meld as a group. "
